Due to the advanced content of this training, Full EMDR Training by an EMDRIA approved provider is required of participants.

After completing this training, participants will be able to:  

• Describe the five types of human trafficking and identify those types present in the United States
• Understand the psychological effects of human trafficking
• Identify the ways in which the psychological effects of human trafficking present in a clinical setting
• Determine how to structure the Second Phase of EMDR in the context of dissociation and complex trauma
• Apply the 8 Phases of EMDR to the unique needs of human trafficking survivors

This advanced training includes lecture components led by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

This program will provide a brief overview of how to identify human trafficking in your community and in clients, as well as a review of some of the psychological effects of human trafficking. We will then follow the case of a human trafficking survivor from start to finish and proceed through all Eight Phases of EMDR, complete with interviews with a trafficking survivor that allows participants to hear her story in her own words.

Yes, you will need to attend the entire training. Your attendance will be tracked via Zoom. Please keep your webcam on during all live training sessions. This is the equivalent of “being in the room” for an in-person training and is required for continuing education hours.

Trauma Specialists Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7268. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Trauma Specialists Training Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

The Power of EMDR with Human Trafficking Survivors will be brought to you by Shari Kim, Ph.D., C.A.A.D.C, EMDRIA Certified Therapist, EMDRIA EMDR Approved Consultant. Shari is a licensed psychologist and certified addictions counselor. She specializes in treatment of addictions and PTSD. She is also certified to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. She is the Chair of the Behavioral Health Workgroup for the York County Human Trafficking Task Force and the Chair of the Human Trafficking Subcommittee for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She also serves as the Disaster Response Network Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the Regional Co-Lead for Disaster Mental Health with the American Red Cross.
