Licensed Mental Health Professionals

• Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.
• Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
• Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province.

Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals

• These are clinicians who are actively pursuing a mental health license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor. Some of these license types include associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary and pre-license.
• Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master's degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor.

After completing this training, participants will be able to: 

• Define Complex Trauma and describe how it presents within the therapy setting
• Explain Dissociation and how it relates to Complex Trauma
• Explain attachment trauma and its relationship to Complex Trauma
• Identify diagnostic Criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder through a trauma lens
• Describe Borderline Personality Disorder as Complex Trauma
• Use Trauma Informed Language to provide psychoeducation about Borderline Personality Disorder
• Describe at least 1 presentation of Borderline Personality Disorder within the therapeutic relationship
• Describe at least 3 trauma-informed relational interventions for working Borderline Personality Disorder.

This training will take place in the form of a lecture led by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. The lecture will focus on how to understand and conceptualize Borderline Personality Disorder as Complex Trauma and how to utilize relational interventions and techniques within the therapeutic space to begin healing of attachment wounding and trauma.

Yes, you will need to attend the entire training. Your attendance will be tracked via Zoom. Please keep your webcam on during all live training sessions. This is the equivalent of “being in the room” for an in-person training and is required for continuing education hours.

This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval # 886869661-3215) for 3.5 continuing education contact hours.

Trauma Specialist Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7268. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Borderline Personality Disorder Through a Trauma Lens will be brought to you by Jamie Sedgwick, LCPC, NCC, EMDRIA Certified Therapist, EMDRIA EMDR Approved Consultant, EMDRIA Approved Basic Trainer. Jamie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor and has worked in the mental health field for 10 years. She has experience with a wide range of issues including PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and behavioral issues. She has interest in working with teens (age 15+) and adults. She specializes in Borderline Personality Disorder, attachment and complex PTSD with a passion for helping individuals learn and incorporate healthy skills to create a life worth living. She is trained in DBT and Neurofeedback and is EMDR certified.
